The Restaurant Service Manager plays a key leadership role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of Stanley’s Bar & Grill, providing support to the Assistant Operations Manager/Operations Manager and leading the Front of House team with a proactive, hands-on approach. They are responsible for supervising, mentoring, and coaching team members, ensuring exceptional guest service, and overseeing operational systems that uphold the highest standards in quality, efficiency, and hospitality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operational Oversight
- Assist with daily opening and closing procedures and ensure operational readiness of the restaurant
- Supervise the dining floor during service to ensure guest satisfaction, smooth communication, and timely table turnarounds
- Monitor food and beverage quality, presentation, and timely delivery by collaborating with BOH and FOH teams
- Support the coordination of events, private functions, and group bookings to ensure a seamless guest experience
- Resolve guest concerns quickly and professionally, using service recovery strategies when needed, and collect & analyze formal and informal guest feedback to drive continuous improvement
- Manage inventory control for all beverage and operational supplies, ensuring stock levels meet business needs
- Oversee and approve ordering of FOH supplies and liaise with vendors to ensure timely delivery and accurate invoicing
- Support the Food & Beverage Manager in recruiting, onboarding, and training all Front of House Team Members & lead by example to deliver exceptional service standards and anticipate guest needs
- Promote a team-focused culture by setting clear expectations, providing timely feedback, and facilitating ongoing training and performance reviews & contribute to a work environment that reflects Capilano Group’s values
- Actively participate in progressive discipline and coaching conversations with team members when necessary
- Promote a first team approach, encouraging team members to speak up, ask questions and share feedback
- Maintain a safe and respectful workplace in line with WorkSafeBC standards, both physically and in how we communicate with one another
- Set the expectation that all team members are treated with respect and professionalism, with no tolerance for harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate behaviour
- Ensure all team members follow health and safety procedures, and maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization and operational compliance across all service areas
- Conduct regular safety and cleanliness checks; promptly report any hazards or maintenance issues
- Ensure Serving It Right and LCRB compliance at all times
- Promote upselling and recommend specials to enhance guest experience and contribute to revenue growth
- Assist in analyzing daily sales reports and identifying performance trends to improve profitability
- Support team in achieving upselling goals, beverage targets, and labour cost efficiencies
- Oversee shift scheduling, ensuring appropriate labour coverage for peak and non-peak periods within budget parameters
- Accurately complete end-of-day reporting, including cash reconciliation, float auditing, and closing paperwork
- Collaborate with accounting and management on reconciling discrepancies and investigating variances
- 2–3 years of leadership or management experience in a high-volume restaurant environment
- Strong knowledge of restaurant operations, POS systems, reservations, and guest service best practices
- “Serving it Right” certification and legal age to work in a licensed environment
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations
- Strong attention to detail, initiative, and time management
Available to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak seasons. Be available to work scheduled shifts throughout peak business periods. Able to stand for long periods and occasionally lift up to 30 lbs. Comfortable working in varied weather conditions including heat, rain, and winter conditions. Comfortable using step ladders and performing light physical tasks as needed.
The starting wage for this role is $32.00 per hour. This is a seasonal role.
